Position Summary
The Fundraising Manager is a volunteer leadership role responsible for the planning, implementation, and oversight of BPN’s revenue-generation initiatives. This individual manages a team of Fundraising Specialists to secure the financial resources necessary to keep BPN’s programs free for the BVI community. The Manager works closely with the Finance Director to align fundraising goals with organizational needs, focusing on diversified income streams including individual giving, corporate sponsorships, and special events.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Management:
- Specialist Supervision: Lead and mentor a team of Fundraising Specialists, assigning specific focus areas such as grant research, donor outreach, or event planning.
- Performance Tracking: Conduct regular check-ins with the fundraising team to monitor progress against targets and provide guidance on donor cultivation strategies.
- Volunteer Onboarding: Assist in recruiting and training new fundraising volunteers, ensuring they understand BPN’s mission and ethical fundraising practices.
Strategic Campaign Development:
- Initiative Creation: Design and execute seasonal and year-round fundraising campaigns (e.g., Year-End Giving, Giving Tuesday, or specific program-based appeals).
- Corporate Sponsorships: Develop sponsorship packages and work with the Executive Leadership team in identifying and pitching to corporate partners interested in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
- Donor Stewardship: Implement a "thank you" and recognition system to maintain long-term relationships with individual and corporate donors.
Operations & Evaluation:
- Fundraising Logistics: Oversee the backend of digital fundraising platforms, ensuring donation links, landing pages, and automated receipts are functioning correctly.
- Data Management: Work with the Program Support Specialist to ensure all donor data, pledge amounts, and contact history are accurately recorded in BPN’s tracking systems.
- Impact Reporting: Analyze campaign results and provide monthly reports to the Program Director regarding funds raised, donor acquisition costs, and ROI on specific initiatives.
Grant & Proposal Support:
- Proposal Oversight: Work with the Finance Director to review and edit grant proposals or pitch decks created by Fundraising Specialists to ensure high quality and alignment with BPN’s strategic voice.
- Needs Alignment: Collaborate with Program Managers to understand the specific costs of BPN initiatives to create compelling "need-based" cases for support.
Qualifications
- Fundraising Experience: Proven experience in non-profit fundraising, development, sales, or partnership management.
- Leadership Ability: Experience managing or coordinating a team, with the ability to delegate tasks effectively and motivate volunteers.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience with fundraising platforms (e.g., Givebutter, PayPal Giv, Spark Good, GoFundMe, etc., ) and Google Workspace for data tracking.
- Strong Communication: Exceptional persuasive writing and public speaking skills for donor solicitations and grant reviews.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple campaign timelines simultaneously from conception to completion.
- Mission Alignment: A deep commitment to BPN’s goal of fostering professional growth within the BVI community.
Reporting Structure
This position reports to the Finance Director.
Time Commitment
This is a volunteer position requiring an average commitment of 5–8 hours per week. This includes team meetings, donor outreach, and campaign management.
